The 2019 growing season started with high volumes of rain over winter and spring, with vine prunings finishing up in February because of the wet weather. This led to a staggered bud break from early March with the Hillside Reserve Chardonnay and finishing with Creekside Pinot Noir in early April. 2019 marked a cool and foggy growing season with good lignification from the long growing season, leading to rich full expressions of each varietal.
Native fermentation in 1.5 ton fermenters, hand punched down. 40% Whole cluster fermentation. Aged in oak barrels (25% new French oak) for 10 months. Bottled unfined, unfiltered. Clones Rochioli Pommard and 2A grown on well-drained loamy clay soil/ancient seabed.
